Club (Spiritual Exposure)
LEVEL 1
The most visible aspect of the K-Life ministry is the bi-monthly club meeting (Usually 1st and 3rd Monday of the month). This is the “one-to-many” or “big group” meeting. The goal for this time is to give kids a meeting time that teens can relate to--one that fosters spiritual growth, provides a fellowship setting, allows for peer outreach, and most importantly, builds relationships with students. With this in mind, we attempt to provide a club meeting that will be both challenging as well as non-threatening, allowing this to be the entry point into K-Life. When it comes to club, we realize that this is the first impression for most kids and therefore, want to create an environment that will encourage kids to come back.
Small Groups (Spiritual Knowledge/Impact)
LEVEL 2
Small groups are a main focus of the K-Life ministry. Once a kid has been introduced to the bi-monthly club meeting, they are often open to pursuing growth in regard to their relationship to the Lord. Bi-monthly Bible studies (usually 2nd and 4th week of the month: days may vary) and relational time become an important part of this level in this ministry. The goal for this time is to meet with kids with the context being the Word of God, allowing truths of the Scripture to impact their lives on a regular basis. The building of peer relationships with leaders is vitally important, so time outside the actual Bible study (i.e. hanging out on the weekends, attending school games/activities, etc) are an important part of the small groups.
One-On-One (Spiritual Influence)
Level 3
The most fulfilling times in the ministry of K-Life come in the one-on-one times that are spent with kids. In reality, other aspects of the ministry are simply the ones that open the doors for this time -- true “life-on-life” ministry. In the teen years, the “crisis situations” seem at times to be never-ending -- and lots of times, the need is for a respected friend and counselor to listen and give advice. One-On-One time spent with kids will give the kid an opportunity to open up, with the goal in mind to build a deeper and dependable relationship with their leader. Our goal is to have established relationships with the kids that they will feel comfortable in opening up during the times that the K-Life staff and leaders can spend alone with them -- whether they are dealing with a problem, or simply strengthening a Christian friendship. In a relational ministry, Omaha K-Life would like to offer every kid in a small group at least two One-On-Ones per semester (totaling at least 4 1-on-1 settings per year).
